Husband
Sunil Manohar Gavaskar (born 10 July 1949) is a former Indian cricketer who played for India and Bombay from the early 1970s to the late 1980s. Gavaskar, widely considered as one of the greatest batters of all time and one of the best-opening batsmen in Test cricket history, established world records for the most Test runs and Test centuries recorded by any batsman during his career. Before Sachin Tendulkar shattered his record of 34 Test hundreds in December 2005, he owned the mark for over two decades. He was the only player in Test history to hit a hundred in both innings three times. He was the first Test batsman to reach 10,000 runs in a career, and he presently ranks 12th among the 13 players with 10,000 or more Test runs.
Gavaskar was famous for his fast bowling technique, with an especially high average of 65.45 against the West Indies team, who had the most ruthless four-pronged fast bowling assault in Test history. However, most of Gavaskar’s hundreds came against West Indies’ second-string squad, when their four-pronged assault was unavailable. His captaincy of the Indian squad, on the other hand, was a failure. Due to the team’s poor record, Gavaskar and Kapil Dev traded captaincy several times, with one of Gavaskar’s sackings occurring just six months before Kapil led India to victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
