Riyad Mohammad Mahmudullah, also known as Mohammad Mahmudullah, is a Bangladeshi cricketer who is currently the T20I captain. He was born on February 4, 1986.
Mahmudullah has spent the previous three years understanding out how fickle form can be as an allrounder who bowls crisp offspin and bats in the middle order. In late 2012, he was on the verge of becoming captain when he was the star who ruined West Indies’ first ODI series defeat in Bangladesh. After a bad season, his place in the team was called into question, and he was even dropped for the 2014 Asia Cup. Mahmudullah finally recovered form and became an obvious choice after another five months.
He was born in Mymensingh, a district 115 kilometres north of Dhaka, where he studied the game before travelling to the city to compete in the ACC U15 tournament in 2000. He represented Bangladesh in the U19 World Cup in 2004 and made his first-class debut for Bangladesh A the following year. In the 2005-06 season, he became a regular club and first-class cricketer back home after spending part of that year with the MCC Young Cricketers.
He made his One-Day International debut against Sri Lanka in 2007 and was dubbed a limited-overs specialist for a while. He bowled in short bursts and didn’t exactly light the globe on fire. also, He averaged 193 with the bat in the ODI tri-series against India and Sri Lanka later that year, after an eight-wicket haul on Test debut (including a five-for in the second innings) against the West Indies in 2009.
In a one-off Test against New Zealand in Hamilton, he hit his one and only international century. As he blasted the fast bowlers imperiously past the covers, the fans held their breath, prompting comparisons to India’s VVS Laxman. The 159 runs he scored against the West Indies in the home ODI series in 2012 was his most notable contribution to date. He was both keeping the innings together and leading the team to victory. The next two years were difficult, but after a solid performance against Zimbabwe in the winter of 2014, he was named to the 2015 World Cup squad.
