The Trinidadian cricketer Joshua Da Silva (born on 19 June 1998). In 2018 he debuted at home in Trinidad & Tobago and in December 2020 he made his international debut with cricket in the West Indies.
Joshua da Silva was selected from the West Indies tour of England by 2020, following a spectacular 2019-20 domestic season, as a wicked man from Trinidad & Tobago. Da Silva made 507 cricket runs at 50.6, dislodging Denesh Ramdin from the T&T side, and was part of the West Indian Emerging Players squad, a team that came out with a surprise when it was won in the regional Super50.
In West Indies’ second warm-up intra-squad warm-up, he took his case for entry into Britain’s top squad with a rating of 133* and 56* and was given an opportunity to impress him in the third test and to succeed Shane Dowrich following an injury. In the draught CPL before the 2020 season, he was chosen by St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
As a young player, Da Silva has credited many of his successes with the stint of the Old Wimbledonians in Surrey in 2017 for the stint playing of cricket clubs in the United Kingdom. He had only chosen to pursue a cricketing career at the age of 16 at St. Mary’s College of Port-of-Spain and had named Queen’s Park CC teammate Darren Bravo as his coach. He is Portuguese and the first white player since Brendan Nash to represent West Indians.
