Lowest Scores In IPL: The Indian Premier League was started in 2008, and since then, it has transformed the game for good. IPL has redefined the importance of franchise cricket, by giving a bunch of talent pools prepared for the international stage every season.
The popularity and impact of IPL have forced all the other international boards into agreeing to its supremacy. All the players want to play in the IPL for its lucrative contracts, intense competition, and the great quality of cricket.
Though T20 was supposed to be Batsman’s game, the IPL has proved all the cricket pundits wrong. All the winning IPL teams had the best bowling lineups, who could restrict and defend the opponents to peanuts.
Here is the list for the top 5 lowest scores in IPL –
1. RCB – 49 all-out against KKR, 2017
The infamous day in the hearts of every true RCB fan, when their team literally collapsed on the grandest stage. After restricting KKR for mere 131 runs, RCB was humiliated by the bowlers of KKR. The Gautam Gambhir-led side bundled Virat’s team for 49, registering a historic win. Nathan Coulter-Nile, Colin de Grandhomme, Chris Woakes were the star performers for Kolkata.
2. RR – 58 all-out against RCB, 2019
The maiden winners Rajasthan Royals dealt a big blow in the confidence of their camp after losing all their wickets on 58 runs. The Kevin Pieterson-led RCB defended their 133 runs aggressively, with the spin wizard Anil Kumble returning the figures of 5-5.
3. DD – 66 all-out against MI, 2017
After giving 212 runs to the Mumbai Indians batting lineup, Delhi Daredevils were bundled out for 66. With good contributions from Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard, MI registered their biggest ever victory in the IPL against the feeble DD led by Zaheer Khan.
4. DD – 67 all-out against KXIP, 2017
After being invited to bat first, DD’s batting lineup could not survive the 20 overs and finished their innings on 67. Sandeep Sharma’s 4-17 led the blows to Delhi, which the batsmen had no answers to. Punjab chased the total in just 8 overs without losing a wicket and registered another big loss to Delhi in their disastrous 2017 season.
5. KKR – 67 all-out against MI, 2008
KKR had a great combination in the first season of IPL. Though they were considered favorites, the MI bowlers destroyed the batting lineup of KKR in that match. The bowler made sure that the wickets kept coming in regular intervals, and so, no batsman of KKR could reach a respectable score. MI chased the score in no time, after Sanath Jayasuriya rocked the KKR bowlers all around the park, during his unbeaten 48 in just 17 bowls.
